Pressure with the practitioner’s fingers is applied to certain reflex points on the feet or hands to treat corresponding areas of the body

BACKGROUND
An Egyptian wall painting found in the tomb of Ankhmahor depicts two physicians using what is known today as foot reflexology. The painting is thought to date back to 2330 BC. Foot ‘treatment’ has existed for thousands of years in many cultures. Modern reflexology is said to stem from the theories of Dr. William H Fitzgerald, an American ear, nose and throat specialist. Since then it has been ‘fine tuned’ by several practitioners including physiotherapist Eunice Ingham.

A TYPICAL SESSION
A brief history is taken, then your feet are bathed in warm water with aromatherapy oil (if desired).  You are then asked to lie on the massage table and covered with a blanket.  Talc is applied to your feet to allow the practitioners fingers to work more easily on the skin, and pressure applied to all or most of the reflex points.  The session ends with a foot massage using enriching cream.
